Sleep training your new baby

Sleep training your baby can be difficult especially in the early days after giving birth, but it is highly beneficial for mother and baby to establish this in the first 6 months after birth.

Here are some helpful tips to help your baby sleep at night.

Co-sleeping can be a good idea after birth especially if your breastfeeding, your baby will settle next to you and also get that all important skin to skin contact. If your are a deep sleeper or you or your partner smoke co-sleeping wouldn’t be a recommended idea. If your not a fan of co-sleeping then simply place your baby in a cot or a basketnet beside your bed until your baby is 6 months plus, after 6 months is a perfect time to move your baby into their own room.

Establishing a daily routine will also help with sleep training. letting your  baby know the difference between daytime and night is very important and can take a few months to get right. Try music, singing, playing with toys to simulate your baby in the daytime, then at night have quite time, set bath time and bedtime feed then a nightly routine will fall into place.

Keeping your home a the right temperature will alway affect the way your baby sleep. If it is too hot or too cold your baby will not settle or if there a lack of moisture in the air your baby will find it hard to sleep. The ideal temperature for your baby room is between 68-72F (20-22.2C). I good item to buy to keep the moisture in the air would be a humidifier.

Just remember enjoy your baby. Happy sleep training guys 😊
